Fruitport Township police were called to the scene of a shooting on Saturday, Jan. 24, that left a 14-year-old boy dead.

Fruitport Twp. Police say when responding to a call about a shooting, they found a 14-year-old boy dead. The investigation is being handled by Michigan State Police.

Police said the case was transferred to the MSP because the teen's family had "affiliations" with Fruitport Township.
