Experts said video footage suggests officers who fired dozens of rounds at a busy intersection could have endangered bystanders.

The mayor of New Jersey’s largest city, along with his director of public safety, are cautioning their constituents against a “stream of misinformation” they say has developed in the wake of a deadly police shooting.

In an email, Richmond police Lt. Donald Patchin confirmed that a Richmond police officer shot somebody on I-80 near the Highway 4 exit. Law enforcement sources confirmed that Alameda County Coroner’s deputies had been sent to the scene, and that the incident was a fatal one.

Officers responded to a 911 call of a person with a weapon shortly before 1 p.m. in the 300 block of South Broadway and found the man, who displayed a knife, police said in a statement on social media. Aurora police officers then fired shots, striking the man at least once, police said.

Police in San Leandro said an officer shot at a man who was allegedly armed with a rifle following a vehicle pursuit early Monday morning.The incident began around 12:30 a.m., when an officer attempted a traffic stop on a black Mercedes-Benz sedan.

Marina Police Department Chief Hopkins said officers were conducting a traffic stop at around 4:55 p.m. when the shooting occurred. Hopkins said the man had a weapon “on or about the vehicle” or on their person.

Cherry is still in the hospital with serious injuries. The officers involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave while the incident is under investigation. MPD said the officers’ body-worn camera footage will be released.
