On the twelfth day of literacy, my teacher gave to me: 12 AAC Devices! It is no accident that we mention AAC last—it’s the key to it all! AAC and literacy are both language-based beings. Students need access and exposure to robust AAC far beyond basic needs. Beginning students need to learn to comment and ask questions, give their opinion, speak to friends and family, and way more. No student needs to be ready! It’s the adults that need to be ready with the right AAC and the right way to teach.

Thanks to ABA, Charlie has learned to communicate basic needs using an AAC device, he’s also learning self-care skills and safety. There’s never any punishment, and his therapists are like family.
