The last major rule change in Le Mans came about in 2011, with the introduction of a completely revised Le Mans Prototype. The 2007-2010 Prototypes were rendered completely obsolete. The new rules imposed a maximum limit of 3.4 litres for N/A engines; 2,0 litres for turbocharged petrol engines and 3.7 litres for turbocharged diesel engines, with any amount of cylinders. Hybridised engines were "extensively allowed", almost encouraged due to the fact they were the only cars allowed to be 4-wheel
